ISA Certification Exam
The next exam is at the ISAAC National Conference in Adelaide. Only twenty applicants will be accepted so early booking will be essential. A certification application containing far more detail will be available in June from ISAAC Administration on (08) 8440 2478. Enquiries can be directed to Martin Norris (cert@isaac.org.au).

World Champion

Congratulations to Kiah Martin, the new Women's World Tree Climbing Champion. Kiah won the event while representing ISAAC and Australia as the current Australian Champion at the International Tree Climbing Championships in Montreal, Canada.

Well done Kiah. We are all very proud.

ISAAC Award of Merit for Service to Australian Arboriculture

An ‘Award of Merit for Service to Australian Arboriculture’ may be presented at an ISAAC National Conference. It is offered to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to arboriculture in Australia. The two previous winners have been Dr. Gregory Moore and Philip Kenyon. Nominations may be submitted for an award. A nomination form can be downloaded from the ‘Online Documents’ page in the ‘Members Area’ at the ISAAC Website.

Please note that nominators and seconders must be current members of ISAAC. Nominees need not be members of ISAAC.

Urban Trees Outgrow their Country Cousins - Study

UK: July 10, 2003

LONDON - With its traffic and pollution, New York is not the most environmentally friendly city but scientists said yesterday it's a great place to grow trees.

Poplars in particular grow better in the Big Apple than they do in the tranquil countryside out of town.

"I know this sounds counterintuitive but it's true. City-grown pollution - ozone in particular - is tougher on country trees," said researcher Jillian Gregg.
