About the Women Of The Trees

Origins

  • Founded in 1999 as a Special Interest Sub-committee of ISAAC
  • Initially only a dozen Victorian and South Australian members
  • First represented at Australian Arbor Camp in 2000, grown steadily ever since

WOTT Mission Statement

WOTT will promote and encourage the growth and visibility of women in Arboriculture.

WOTT Aims

  • Greater participation in Womens' Division events at both local and national Tree Climbing Championships;
  • Greater attendance and event structure for women attending Arborcamp;
  • Greater involvement of women through attendance and speaking engagements at ISA conferences, seminars and workshops;
  • Connecting women regionally, nationally and internationally via email newsletters, updates and information packages

  • currently over 260 members from 14 Countries including
    · Australia, Brasil, Canada, Finland, Germany, New Zealand, Norway, Slovak Republic, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, USA
  • representing women from:
    • Private businesses and consultants, student representatives, educational institutions, muncipal parks, botanic gardens, government agencies and utility companies

     

  • Connecting women regionally, nationally and internationally via email
    newsletters, updates and information packages

Future prospects

  • Increased participation and feedback from members will help grow WOTT into a truly important tool for connecting women in the Arboriculture industry.
  • A stronger voice at TCC events is required at every level and WOTT members are already making an impact in this area
  • Stronger contacts with suppliers of Arboricultural outfitters and equipment with specific aims of improving the range and fit of clothing and PPE for women
  • Links to connect women running Arboricultural businesses where information sharing can take place in an easy manner and with little effort involved
